Council for Child Abuse Prevention- Serving the San Fernando and Santa Clarity Valleys (SPA 2)

Our History

Founded in 1977, the Council for Child Abuse Prevention – Serving the San Fernando & Santa Clarita Valleys (formerly known as the San Fernando-Santa Clarita Valley Child Abuse Prevention Council) is an interagency and community council dedicated to facilitating communication and problem solving in dealing with child abuse and neglect.

What We Do

Our goals are simple:

• Educate the public and professionals in all areas of child abuse prevention

• Maximize the effectiveness of existing resources by sharing information throughout our communities

• Work with the local community to prevent, reduce and eliminate child abuse and neglect

Speaker Meetings/Educational Presentations:
The Council invites professionals in the field of child welfare, law enforcement and other experts in the area of child abuse to be featured guest speakers at membership meetings.  Additionally, these meetings provide a wonderful opportunity for networking and membership awareness of local community resources and services.

Children & Family Events:

The Council works collaboratively to facilitate and/or sponsor special events for children and families. These events are meant to increase opportunities for families to engage in safe, fun activities that promote family bonding and connection to resources.  All events focus on the development of the FIVE PROTECTIVE FACTORS in families that prevent child abuse and neglect:

• Social Connections
• Knowledge of Parenting & Child
Development

• Social & Emotional Competence of Children

• Concrete Support in Times of Need
• Parental Resilience
