San Gabriel Valley Child Abuse Prevention Council

The San Gabriel Valley Child Abuse Prevention Council began in 1986 with Santa Anita Family Services. We have been an active council since inception. Our primary focus is raising community awareness of the five protective factors to prevent child abuse and neglect in the San Gabriel Valley.

In the past we have provided trainings on: Father Support with Dr. Hershel Swinger (Children’s Institute, Inc.), Preventing Abuse in the Special Needs Community (San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center), Bullying Prevention, Brain Development Related to Trauma, and in 2016 we provided a training around epigenetics using the film “In Utero” by Kathleen Gyllenhaal.

For more information please contact Karen Nutt (Co-Chair) via the information below.

Our council is unique in that we have members who have been involved for over 20 years. Our geographical area covers the east end of the county from Duarte, Monrovia, Azusa, Baldwin Park, Bradbury, City of Industry, Claremont, Covina, Diamond Bar, Duarte, Glendora, Hacienda Heights, Irwindale, La Puente, La Verne, Monrovia, Phillips Ranch, Pomona, Rowland Heights, San Dimas, Valinda, Walnut, and West Covina.

We are always looking for ways to connect with others interested in furthering the mission of the Child Abuse Prevention Councils and educating our communities around child protection and intervention.
